The same night as Joan Armatrading was the Tokyo Police Club show at the Grog Shop. Freelance Whales were opening and I've been really excited to see these guys - but it just didn't happen this night. Right after Joan was done, we raced to the Grog to catch the closing songs of Tokyo Police Club. I'd been enjoying their album, which I think has a kind of Phoenix pop/rock feel. They're good! The crowd was really into it (crowdsurfing??), and it was quite a change from the seated performance we just came from.
I would have definitely liked to catch this whole show. I'll be there next time they come around. Hopefully Freelance Whales will be with them again (or headling a tour themselves).
