Movement / Detroit Electronic Music Festival!
Video Day #tzaupbeat
A stunning dance track by CERRONE feat. Beth Ditto. and remixed by Alan Braxe. Sticking with the disco theme is the new Giorgio Moroder with Sia! Royksopp has this new video for I Had This Thing.
Bonus: My favorite French pop artist - Yelle!

Xavier Rudd (5/7/15)
I’m thrilled every time Xavier Rudd comes to town (and even more thrilled when it’s at the Beachland). This time he brought Mike Love as the opener. I wasn’t as excited with Mike as I should have been - mostly because his recorded stuff did not do justice to his live shows. As a single man on stage, he easily captivated the audience with his looping of sounds & instruments, building to these massive crescendos. Excellent! He’s coming back and I can’t wait.
Xavier really filled out the stage with his band from all over the world. While I wouldn’t say it wasn’t the best performance that I’ve seen from him - he still can do no wrong. Positive energy just radiates from him…
Dar Williams (5/2/15)
Dar Williams returned to Cleveland - finally! This time she was performing at the Music Box down in the Flats - and with Lucy Wainwright Roche opening (yay!). I was really excited for this show at this venue. We had quite a large group of people and were set right up front (I was sitting next to the stage). I will however, avoid doing this in the future - as the sound from the monitors overwhelmed the overall sound. Still… it was Dar and Lucy. (no video since I was so close)
A Night Out in University Circle (5/1/15)
I’m not necessarily titling this post as a particular band - as my sister was visiting and we just happened to be hopping around University Circle. Wed stopped in to the Barking Spider Tavern and the Happy Dog at Euclid Tavern.
I finally saw a show at the Euclid Tavern!! Performing this night was My Light We Loom, Marcus Alan Ward, and Nonaphoenix. I kinda liked Nonaphoenix!
TAARKA (4/26/15)
The next night in San Francisco - I found a VERY cool local venue called Amnesia who had a great little folk band called TAARKA. But first, opening was the Alisa Rose Players. Good stuff...
TAARKA was great as well. They fit this space so well, and I was so happy to be getting my local SF friend out to some live music in their neighborhood.
Young Fathers (4/25/15)
Not long after going to Seattle, I was back on the West Coast, in San Francisco & Berkely. My first night there, I was able to catch Young Fathers, Mas Ysa and Brogan Bentley. I was mostly there to see Mas Ysa - who I *loved* at Pitchfork 2014. He brought the same mix of passion and beats that feels pertinent. Check out the building “Look Up."
Young Fathers were a recent Mercury Prize winner and their recent video was amazing. These guys were a little harder/faster/louder in concert than I was expecting - but not bad.

Video Day #tzaupbeat
Happy Friday! Bringing some variety today… San Cisco waited no time to release their second video for RUN. Florence + the Machine is creating a Ship To Wreck in her new video. Heems (part Das Racist) has an expected wacky new video Sometimes
Bonus: This is the new Zhala video, which I’m not crazy about - but she’s the new Robyn protege on Konichiwa Records. I’ll be curious to see what else she can deliver
