I’ve been flirting with actually, legitimately seeing Ha Ha Tonka in concert for years. I caught a bit of them in 2008 when catching Birdmonster at The Spot. I also left before they played at the Beachland Tavern in 2009 (by no fault of their own). Their recorded stuff has been good, but it wasn’t until this last album that I really took notice - it’s GREAT! Couple that with them performing with Samantha Crain, who I’ve also been liking (but have never seen) at a show in the Tavern side of the Beachland - SOLD. It was a well attended night too - so I wasn’t the only one who thought so.
Opening was The Brothers Kaschak, who were a (rough around the edges) version of Avett Brothers meets Mumford & Sons. I’d see them again though.
Samantha Crain was smart, funny, and man can that woman sing!! She has a voice that was just meant to be heard…
Ha Ha Tonka was charming, upbeat and lots of fun! Check them out…
