The Dø - Miracles (A Short Film)

This is amazing.  The Dø has been one of my favorite alt-pop bands for quite a while.  Well, they seemed to have packaged much of their album (in clips) into a single video / short film.  It’s only 12+ minutes, and trust me - it’s worth it.

New Music Venue in Tremont!

A new music venue is coming to Tremont on October 16th!

Coda graffiti wall

"The club will be open Thursday through Monday, with various nights devoted to certain musical genres – think Blues Sunday or Friday Night Rock. Those shows will be supplemented by some ticketed, private-invite concerts with high-profile special guests. Todd Rundgren has already signed up for one. There will be no deejays, only live music. On Sundays, before the main act, Boccuzzi might roll out an all-ages show. "

Video Day #tzachill

A new tour video from Brandi Carlile for Wherever is Your Heart!  I don’t know much about Troye Sivan other than he just put out this sweet video for WILD.  Ibeyi has a touchy new video for Stranger / Lover.

Bonus:  I would have not expected to put a Stromae video in the “chill” video day post, but this is a low key, creepy, and quite impactful video about cancer.

Video Day #tzaupbeat

A new video for Shamir, for In for the Kill (the song is better than the video) - and who’s tickets go on sale this morning for his show in Oberlin!  Disclosure just released another video for their soon-to-be released new album.  And Duke Dumont released this (lyric?) video for Ocean Drive.

Bonus: Last week was Miley, this week Taylor - the two big stories from the recent VMA’s (anyone watch it?).  I’m a sucker for super sweet pop music when it’s well-produced - which this is, like it’s video.

Tonight: Horse Feathers @ Beachland Tavern

I don’t even remember seeing Horse Feathers back in 2010, but thanks to my blog memory I can see they were the  first band I “reviewed” under this newest blog moniker.  As usual, I didn’t write a whole lot, but enough to remind me that I should probably go to this show on Wednesday (Beachland Tavern / $14).  Besides, it’s been quiet on the concert front around here lately (it’s both our faults…) - so I’ve been itching for some shows.  I’ve been listening to their new stuff and it should be a really good show!

Video Day #tzaupbeat

Let’s get this week started on an upbeat note.  This Macklemore & Ryan Lewis song and video for Downtown is good enough to re-watch multiple times (and is now the reason I’m in love with Eric Nally). This Sylvan Esso is not so much a new video - but I missed it the first time around and it made me realize how good these guys are.  Ezra continues to tug at my heart strings with Lousy Connection.

Bonus.  I know everyone is hating on Miley, but I’m kinda enjoying this ride she’s taking us on.  This video is grossly intriguing.

Motley Crue (8/18/15)

Finally caught up with my concerts, and it’s hard to believe that this was the last show that I saw!  But the concert scene has been a little quite lately, and I’ve been quite busy celebrating my 40th.  This concert plays well into my birthday however, because Motley Crue was the first (real) concert I ever went to, and was my first with my sister.  So when I heard this was going to be their last tour ever - I called my sister up and said let’s go!

It was quite the spectacle of a show, which was great.  We were so far up though, the sound was mediocre.  Still - one last time with the Crue was worth it.

"Yeah, Tuesday was what could be dubbed 'the second annual farewell tour show'' by Lee and his Motley Crue bandmates – vocalist Vince Neil, bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist Mick Mars – and was 'officially'' the last date here by Motley Crue."

Taylor Dayne (8/15/15)

I wasn’t expecting to be going to this show, but then again I’m not sure I would have ever seen a show at Lock 3 otherwise (not a big cover band person).  It was a nice night out however.  And I’ll have to give it to Taylor Dayne because she is still working it.

Ezra Furman (8/9/15)

I love this ride that Ezra Furman is on with his new album… He’s getting a lot of traction and buzz, so I was really bummed when I saw he wasn’t going to be playing Cleveland - that is until I saw this random listing for a show at Lava Lounge.  Lava Lounge!!  A place that I never knew hosted shows!  Needless to say, it wasn’t well set up  - or lit for that matter - but I think Ezra could make anything work.  Unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for my media.

The Black Lillies (8/6/15)

Scored some free tickets to this Black Lillies show at the Music Box Supper Club.  I’m still not completely sold on this venue (at least food-wise), but I’m sold on the Black Lillies.  I’ll take a solid folk/bluegrass band any day.  You’ll get another chance btw - they’re coming back to the Beachland on November 20th!
